I am a South African who has lived half his life in Oakland, CA. I travel regularly between Cape Town and Oakland. My research and work focuses on how new mobile technologies can be used to create complementary and alternative currencies that are aimed at poor communities with the goal of fostering economic prosperity and new value systems. I am particularly interested in scenario planning, alternative currencies (Bernard Lietaer, Edgar Cahn, Tom Greco), new economic paradigms, economic and political theory, mobile technology, social media and paradigm shifts.
